DACS Audio Purity Overview

Offering uncompromising audio detail and the lowest possible noise, the Purity Stereo Headphone Amplifier from DACS Audio builds upon the technical innovations of the HeadLite and +Power modules to get the most out of audiophile headphones. With a Pure Class-A output circuit and loads of transient headroom, the Purity headphone amp will make any headphones shine, revealing the true details of your audio content.

DACS Audio achieves this high level of performance with their unique Purity BDZ power supply, which drains excess voltage and EMF for an output impedance of zero ohms. The balanced XLR-1/4″ combo inputs are interference-free, while the balanced XLR 4-pin headphone output sports extremely low crosstalk for the best possible listening experience. Unbalanced RCA inputs and a stereo 1/4″ headphone output are also provided for extra connection options. This headphone amp includes a power cable.

Drive Topology Listening tests with a large mix of headphones confirm DACS’ Pure Class-A topology excels with all types of headphones and listening levels. To run in Class-A, the Purity Headphone Amplifier and Purity BDZ Power Supply generate a lot of heat. The case and ultraquiet Noctua fan provide plenty of airflow to keep the temperature stable, whatever the load. Differential Input and Output DACS balanced input uses an instrumentation format, with hand trimmed CMRR to give the most accurate interference free signal.

Then DACS looked at balanced headphones. The Purity Headphone Amplifier provides remarkably low crosstalk between the two independent amplifier channels; using balanced output connections. That channel independence is maintained without compromise from the Purity BDZ Power Supply all the way to the ears.

Purity Power Supply The new Purity BDZ Power Supply uses a superstable, superlow noise op-amp-based design, with zero-ohm output impedance. When driven hard, headphones produce back EMF generated by current flowing back toward the voltage regulator, causing instability. In conventional PSU designs, this back EMF significantly reduces the PSUs performance, with the amplifier losing control of the headphones and generating distortion. DACS unique Purity BDZ Power Supply design sinks that current away ensuring zero-ohm impedance and total output voltage stability, regardless of what’s happening at the headphone level.
